About Course

These work experience simulations are completely unique, we use high fidelity simulation in the best state-of-the-art-simulation centre in the country, at the QE Hospital in Birmingham.  Follow 3 patients over a 6-month period as they go from diagnosis, to treatment and follow up, that is provided by real doctors and a multidisciplinary team. UHB and Medic Mentor are committed to ensuring that students still have the opportunity to gain valuable insight into healthcare careers and high quality application support, even in these difficult times.

Medic Mentor’s approach to virtual learning through our Medical Work Experience programme has helped over ten thousand students across the UK by;

  2. Providing open access to specialist areas within the hospital not available to you on in-person work experience.

  4. Brining you best clinical practice according to NICE and GMC guidelines. The programme was designed and delivered by qualified registered clinicians.

Session 1: Emergency Medicine
A patient comes into A&E showing signs of bacterial meningitis.

Session 2: Intensive & Critical Care
A patient suffering from breathing difficultly due to a severer asthma attack is Brough into the Emergency Department and her subsequent transfer to the ICU.

Session 3: Obstetrics & Gynaecology
We follow our patient throughout her pregnancy and every step medical team takes to ensure mother and baby are healthy.

Session 4: General Practice
Join our doctors as they see a variety of patients in their GP Surgery.

Session 5: The Surgery
Join the surgical team as they preform a laparoscopic nephrectomy (kidney removal via keyhole surgery) our surgeon will guide you through the operation.

Session 6: Palliative Care
In this session our medical team work in geriatric medicine and palliative care. The multi disciplined team showing best practice when it comes to treating and speaking with patients and their family.
